A Smarter Beginning

About Me

September 30, 2013 / by Susan Sirigatti

Hi.  I’m Susan, an educator, mother and grandmother.  For over 35 years, I’ve been intensely interested in children – in what works in education and  what’s best for children’s development.  I’ve read, observed and thought a lot.  No, I don’t have all the answers but I do have experience, knowledge and insights.  And I’m crazy about kids.

MISSION

Our children are our greatest resource. We care so much about them that we desperately want to get it right when it comes to them.  At the same time, our world has become increasingly complex. This means your job as parent has become increasingly difficult.  It used to be easier when the world was simpler.  Today, we are bombarded with too much information and advice. Much of it is confusing and contradictory. The result is that it isn’t easy to know what to take seriously and whom to listen to. Our children’s happiness, success, and futures matter so much to us that we don’t want to make any mistakes, not serious ones anyway.  Nobody loves our kids more than we do. That’s why when it comes to our kids, we’ve got to listen most of all to ourselves.

That’s where my mission comes in.  I want to help keep you informed about research, studies and articles regarding children, their development, their education and their well-being.  It’s important that the decisions and choices you make regarding your children be well-informed.  That’s my mission in writing this blog.
